A MAN has died after being hit by a lorry in York.

As previously reported by The Press at the time, a male pedestrian was initially left with serious head and leg injuries after the collision which happened at about 1.45am on Saturday, October 2 in Wigginton Road - the B1363 - between the railway line and the former Bumper Castle pub.

North Yorkshire Police have now said the man, who has not been named, has since sadly died and they have renewed an appeal for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

A police spokesman said: "Very sadly the pedestrian, a man in his forties, who sustained serious head injuries in the collision has since died in hospital.

"Officers from the Major Collision Investigation Team are renewing their appeal for any witnesses, CCTV or dashcam footage.

"They would be particularly interested to speak to anyone who was walking or travelling in the area who may have seen a pedestrian on Wigginton Road (B1363) prior to the collision, or anyone who was travelling in the area between midnight and 2am who have may have captured dashcam footage of their journey.
