A GRANDMA of eight has completed the London Marathon and raised over £2000 for the national charity that gave her the chance to race.

Judy Sleeman completed the race in six hours, 11 minutes and 56 seconds and all of the money raised is going towards, Get Kids Going – a national charity that gives disabled children and young people up to the age of 26 an opportunity to participate in all kinds of sports from entry level up to the Paralympics.

Having completed The Great North Run and the Yorkshire Marathon, Judy, who lives near Malton, had always dreamed of then completing the London Marathon.

The charity offered Judy a place after she applied several times in the past unsuccessfully.

“I have been overwhelmed by all the support and the donations for my charity Get Kids Going”, she said.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has been in touch. I am absolutely delighted to say that I have raised just shy of £2,200.

“It was a wonderful day and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute… it was amazing to hear my name shouted out loud by the masses of people lining the route - something I’ll never forget.

Judy added:“I am a bit stiff and foot sore but this will soon go unlike the big smile on my face and the joy in my heart.”
