Helmsley Art Centre (HAC) has welcomed audiences back to full house.

The Arts Centre has seen a full auditorium for the first time since March 2020, with many more shows coming up.

This weekend sees Mavis Sparkle (presented by M6 Theatre Company) a magical, funny, inspirational and perfect show for children from three years on Sunday,October 3, at 2.30pm. As half term creeps up, another family pick is Woodland Tales with Grandad (presented by Pickled Image) on Friday, October, 29, at 2.30pm.

Something for the adults and rated a little raunchy is Not: Lady Chatterley’s Lover, a laughter-filled parody of the classic D.H. Lawrence novel on Saturday, October, 9 at 7.30pm. Mark Watson, celebrated comedian and novelist, brings his hit show to HAC on Thursday, October,7 8pm.

HAC’s much loved and talented 1812 youth theatre are looking forward to getting back on stage, currently in rehearsals for the much anticipated Absent Friends by Alan Ayckbourn over four nights from Wednesday 20 to Saturday, October 24 , 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

A spokesperson said: "HAC has so much to offer. Closed throughout the pandemic it has kept its charm and community spirit, organising fundraising events and online screenings to ensure the arts continued in peoples lives. Now the doors are open once again, and never has the arts been so important as now.

Other events this season include NT Live: Follies, Kathryn Stott: Pianist, Snake Davis and Robin A Smith, Imogen Cooper: Pianist, Hannah James and Toby Kuhn, Libby Burgess: Pianist, The Noise Next Door, Barbican String Quartet, Thunder Hammer, Bolshoi Ballet Live, Mr Dickens A Christmas Carol, and, the 1812 in house panto.
