POLICE have cordoned off a house after a body was found.

North Yorkshire Police say they received a call from the ambulance service just before 9am this morning (September 20) reporting the discovery of man's body inside a property in Cross Street in Scarborough.

A force spokesman said: "We can now confirm a man in his thirties was pronounced dead by ambulance crews at the scene and an investigation into the cause of the death is now under way.

"At this time the death is been treated as unexplained. A police cordon remains in place on Cross Street to allow the investigation to progress.

"Anyone who can assist police with this incident is asked to contact 101 and select option 1 quoting reference number 12210205524 or alternatively contact Crime Stoppers anonymously."
