Norton Skatepark has closed temporarily close due to concerns about the condition of some of the equipment on the park.

A spokesperson for Norton Town Council said: “It has been brought to our attention that several pieces of the recently repaired equipment have become damaged and have exposed sharp edges that could be really hazardous to skatepark users.

“The last thing we want to see is a child injured on the park, so we have put in place a temporary closure whilst repairs can be made. We hope skatepark users will respect the closure and the reasons for it.

#RescueThe Ramp said: “The town council has put a lot of emphasis on the need for health and safety concerns to be paramount in our plans to refurbish the half-pipe. We are now calling on them to apply the same high expectations to the rest of the part and urgently look at the repairs that are needed, in consultation with skatepark users, to bring the park up to the high safety standards that ROSPA and the Health & Safety Inspectorate require.”
