UPDATE: Crews extinguished the fire of bracken and undergrowth measuring approximately 50x20m.
FIREFIGHTERS are at the scene of a fire near a popular North York Moors beauty spot.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say crews from Pickering, Goathland and Whitby are currently dealing with a large area of bracken on fire near the Hole of Horcum.
Following several days of hot, dry weather, the moorland is particularly vulnerable to fires and the fire service has urged people not to take risks with disposable barbecues and discarded cigarette ends.
A spokesman said: "Please take care if you're visiting the countryside during this warm/dry weather.
"Remember if you spot a wild fire call 999 and ask for the fire service. Consider downloading something like What3Words to help give us an accurate location."
