A CYCLIST had to be rescued after becoming injured near Cottam Warren on the Yorkshire Wolds.

Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team assisted the Yorkshire Ambulance Service in the evacuation of the injured cyclist yesterday (June 10) at around 7.03pm.

A spokesperson for the team said: “Their location was reported as being 400 metres from a drivable road and because of the mechanism of injury we were asked to package the patient in one of our vacuum mattresses and carry the patient back to the road and a waiting ambulance on one of our Bell stretchers.”

Fifteen team members and two team vehicles deployed for two- and three-quarter hours.
