TWO men have been arrested after a knifepoint robbery.
North Yorkshire Police say a knifepoint robbery was carried out at a Scarborough shop and a sum of cash was stolen during the incident at Premier shop on North Marine Road yesterday evening (Sunday).
A police spokesman said that staff were left understandably shaken but uninjured in the incident.
He said: "Police responded shortly after 7pm and two suspects had been detained by 9pm.
"A local man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of robbery and a local man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery.
"They remain in police custody while enquiries continue today.
"Detectives are urging any witnesses who have yet to come forward, or anyone who has found a discarded jacket in the vicinity of Castle Road/ Queen Street, to get in touch by calling 101, selecting option 2 and asking for Scarborough CID.
"Please quote incident number 12210105830 when sharing information."
