UPDATE 3.25PM: The earlier accident has now been cleared and traffic has returned to normal.
ONE lane on the A64 is shut after a crash.
Emergency services are currently on the scene on the A64 between York and Malton at Whitwell.
The eastbound carriageway is partially blocked and there is heavy traffic in the area due to an accident near to Onhams Lane - the Crambe and Westow turn-off.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area if at all possible.
It's not yet known if anyone has been injured in the incident.
