Ryedale District Council reintroduces car parking charges Ryedale District Council is reintroducing charges in all of its car parks from this Thursday 1 April.

The Council has nine short and long stay car parks at locations across the district, including Kirkbymoorside, Malton, Pickering, Helmsley and Norton.

In order to support lives and livelihoods during the pandemic, parking in the car parks became free of charge to all users from 9 December 2020.

Phillip Spur, Programme Director for Economic Development, Business and Partnerships at Ryedale District Council, said: “We thank everyone who has taken advantage of the free parking offer to support our town centres and local businesses in line with government restrictions.

“As some coronavirus restrictions are now being cautiously eased, the time is right to reintroduce parking charges. We hope that people will continue to visit their high streets safely and shop locally.”

Ryedale District Council will be cleaning the payment machines daily and have marked 2 metre safe distances by them, to ensure that citizens and visitors can stay safe. Posters reminding people of the need to respect social distancing and maintain good hygiene are also on display.
