A POPULAR bar is to close due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The owners of Maison Du Vin, in Market Place, Malton, have said they have taken the 'incredibly difficult' decision following the effect the covid restrictions have had on the hospitality industry.

Matt and Sarah Beevers, who opened Maison Du Vin in July 2017, said they were grateful for all the support they had received.

They said: "It is with a very, very heavy heart that after the struggles the hospitality industry faced during 2020 and most of 2021 that we have to unfortunately say goodbye to Maison Du Vin.

"This has been an incredibly difficult decision and one that is upsetting and challenging for us as Maison Du Vin is such a huge part of our lives."

They added: "Since opening the bar we have celebrated so many birthdays, baby showers, Christmas parties and New Years dinners, we have met some of our best friends in this bar and also welcomed our little girl into the world and many of our wonderful customers have become huge parts of our lives as a family and shared the arrival of Grace with us.

"Maison Du Vin hasn’t just been a business to us it has been a hub of friendship, laughter, smiles, celebrations, fury friends and memories that we will cherish forever .

"We are eternally grateful for the support you have shown us since opening the bar and we are so sorry to be ending the Maison Du Vin journey. "

They said: "Our hearts go out to every person who has lost this past year. Whether it be losing family, friends, colleagues, businesses, jobs, time with their families and memories that should have been made. We hope that the future is incredibly kind to all of you.

"We would like to wish all of our fellow Malton business owners and hospitality businesses a huge good luck for the future. Malton really has something to be proud of with the amazing businesses and loyal local customers and we will see all of you when we eat, drink and shop in your establishments. Thank you for all of the memories. It’s not goodbye it’s see you soon."
