THE roof of an outbuilding has been destroyed after is caught fire.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said it is believed the fire was caused by a fault in the solar panel battery in Oswaldkirk, near Helmsley. It happened at around 9.19am yesterday.
A spokesperson said: “Two crews attended a fire involving a domestic outbuilding, approximately 10x5 metres.
“The building contained a mini digger and a battery for solar panels that had been turned on a few days ago.
“It is believed the fire was caused by a fault in the solar panel battery.
“The fire caused 100 per cent damage to the roof of the building and the mini digger.
“Crews used breathing apparatus, hose reel jet, main jet, ladder and thermal imaging camera.”
