NORTH Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about a theft that occurred in Scarborough.

It happened on King Street between 1.15pm and 2.30pm and involved the theft of a Cat4 scanning device from where workmen had been working on the road bordering  Newborough.

A spokesperson said: "We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"In particular, we are appealing for anyone who has seen a person carrying this device in the surrounding areas within this time frame."
