PICKERING Town Council is looking to honour volunteers who have been champions for fellow residents during the Covid pandemic.
Town Clerk, Angela Dawson, said a new awards scheme had been set up to acknowledge the dedication of the volunteers.
Angela said: “So many people have done amazing work helping residents with a wide range of things such as collecting shopping and prescriptions, and now helping out at the town’s surgery with organising Covid vaccinations.”
However, she added the Volunteer Service Awards were also open to volunteers in general in Pickering, as well as those who have helped through the pandemic..
Angela said: “The council will decide on people to be awarded an they will receive a badge from the council in recognition of their service to the town at a presentation event later in the year.”
Nominations for an individual to receive an award must be made under an official form which is available from the website under council and news, or by contacting the town council office on 01751 476503 or emailing townclerk@pickering.gov.uk.
Closing dates for nominations is the March 31.
