A FLOOD warning remains in place in Norton, Malton and Old Malton this morning (Thursday) following heavy rainfall.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: " The flood warning for the River Derwent at Norton, Malton and Old Malton remains in force.
"Flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible. Additional pumps are in place to help manage river levels , and they will remain in place and operational until river levels have fallen below the level of concern.
"Levels at Malton peaked on Friday, 22/01/2021 and whilst falling, they remain high. Further rainfall is expected throughout Thursday (28/01/21) and into Friday morning (29/01/21). Local river levels may rise again in response in the coming days. Please avoid walking or driving through floodwater and visit the GOV.UK website for a 5 day flood forecast. We are closely monitoring the situation."
County Bridge and Norton Road remain closed to vehicles but are open to pedestrians.
