“I THINK Rondart appeared at the Darlington Hippodrome several times,” says Malcolm Middleton in response to last week’s article about the world’s only profession dart spitter.
Rondart - real name Ron Tomlinson - was from West Auckland and spent 40 years touring the world with his glamorous wife, Cristina, spitting darts on stage - and on telly.
“I certainly watched him perform there in the late 1950s," continues Malcolm. "The only other artist on the bill that night that I can remember, was a man without arms who shaved volunteers from the audience using a cut-throat razor which he held by the toes of his right foot!”
Wow! That sounds better than I’m A Celebrity that is today’s entertainment. Does anyone else remember seeing Rondart at the Hip?
