ONE area of Ryedale has seen a surge in new confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Latest data from Public Health England shows Malton and Norton has seen cases rise by 59 in the seven days up to November 13, up 42 on the previous figures.

It means the seven–day rolling rate for 100,000 population in Malton and Norton is now 407.3, well above the national average of 257.3.

The areas of Kirkbymoorside and Moors, Rillington and Sherburn, and Pickering has also seen cases rise.
