AN 86-year-old fan of Charles Dickens is to take part in an marathon with a difference to raise funds for Hospices UK.
Brian Oxberry, a member of the Charles Dickens (Malton) Society, aims to perform A Christmas Carol 100 times over 26.2 days.
Mr Oxberry, who has taken part in numerous events reading Dickens’ novel, said: “I am concerned about all the funds charities are losing because their supporters have not been able to raise money by running marathons. Our hospices do magnificent work, as I know from personal experience, but some of them are in financial trouble. I am unable to run a marathon, but I thought of this personal marathon and would appreciate people’s support.”
