IT is businesses as usual for one mountain rescue team - despite funding concerns during the coronavirus outbreak.

Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team (SRMRT) is continuing to respond to incidents across the district, escalated by North Yorkshire Police, Humberside Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

The mountain rescue team is encouraging people to exercise within government guidelines during the second lockdown and phone 999 in emergency situations.

“As a charity which receives no direct funding and with running costs in the order of £45,000 per annum, then the lockdown really impacts the generation of our funds,” said a spokesperson from SRMRT.

“To that end we are truly grateful for those business and individuals who have continued to donate and support us through the pandemic.

“We know times are hard for everyone, so such generosity is really humbling, however please keep giving - all we receive goes directly to saving lives in remote places.

“Stay safe and, all being well, see you all in December.”
