THERE has been one further death related to Covid-19 recorded at hospitals in the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

NHS England says the total number at York and Scarborough hospitals since the pandemic began stands at 228.

A spokeswoman for the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said the latest death had happened at Scarborough Hospital.

Meanwhile, there has been eight new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Ryedale.

Public Health England is now providing data which shows the total number of cases reported in our area for the whole of the pandemic, as well as the number of new cases in the last seven days and the seven day rate per 100,000 population.

Ryedale - 43, 77.6, 392 (up 8 in the previous 24 hours) 

Scarborough - 139, 127.8, 1,206 (up 22)

City of York - 631, 299.6, 3,457 (up 60)

North Yorkshire - 1,012, 163.7, 7,226 (up 179)

East Riding of Yorkshire - 815, 238.9, 4,372 (up 13083)

Nationally, there have been 22,885 new cases, taking the total to 917,575. All of these figures include both pillar 1 and pillar 2 cases. 

There have been 367 deaths in the UK, taking the total to 45,365.
