A TEENAGE motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries following a crash.

The accident happened outside the petrol station on the B1416 Sneaton Lane in Ruswarp, near Whitby, at about 3.35pm yesterday (Thursday), and involved a motorcycle and car.

The 17-year-old motorcyclist, from Whitby, suffered serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Middlesbrough's James Cook Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s from the Whitby area, was un-injured. The road was closed for several hours to allow police to investigate the scene.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision involved an orange and black KTM motorcycle and a white Hyundai.

Both were travelling into Ruswarp from the Sneaton direction and occurred directly outside the petrol station.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have dash-cam footage or who saw the collision to contact them.

They are also keen to hear from anyone who saw the orange KTM motorcycle which was with riding with a second motorcycle in the area around the time of the collision to contact TC1786 Huw Walkey via 101 or by e-mail to Huw.Walkey@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk quoting log 271 of October 15.
