NORTON Primary School is asking all adults who enter the school grounds to wear face masks from tomorrow (Thursday).

In a letter to parents, headteacher Liz Parker said: "Thank you for your continued support in trying to keep the children and staff safe during these difficult times. We really appreciate your cooperation.

" As the country prepares for the second wave of the virus, we are now requesting that any adult entering the school grounds MUST wear a face mask as of Thursday 24th September.

" If you do not have a mask on, please remain outside the gates and send your children through. Either Mrs Bates or I will make sure they get to where they need to be. "

Mrs Parker added: "I am hoping that this will not be an issue for anyone and that you all appreciate the need to not allow the virus to spread into the school where we have a number of vulnerable children and adults."

Norton Primary School is split over two sites with the younger children based in Grove Street and older ones in Langton Road.

Mrs Parker added: "Thank you to everyone who is respecting the one adult on site guidelines. There are still a number of FS parents coming in twos. Please try to remember to leave one adult outside the grounds. If you are dropping off at different doors then that is fine for one to go to one area of the school and the other to another area, but please do not stand together.

"Thank you again for your commitment in trying to keep everyone safe and healthy."
