THREE beaches in Yorkshire have been been named in a top 50 of Britain’s most dog-friendly places to visit on the coast.

Cayton Bay, near Scarborough, South Landing in Flamborough and Skipsea Beach in Hornsea, all made it into the coveted pet-friendly guide.

Vets Now, a pet emergency service, has created a 32-page digital guide on the best – and safest – beaches for dogs.

Cayton impressed the guide’s authors for being a quiet and unspoilt bay just three miles south of Scarborough. It is regarded as one of Yorkshire’s best surfing locations.

And they say South Landing is the beach to go to if you and your dog are looking to get away from it all. Whereas Skipsea was named as a sandy beach to head for if you are looking for a relaxed walk along beautiful coastline.

Laura Playforth, professional standards director at Vets Now and one of the authors of the Best Beach Guide, said: “The team were really impressed with Cayton Bay, South Landing and Skipsea Beach, especially the pet friendliness and facilities on offer, and believe them to be an ideal destination for the UK’s dog lovers.”
