POLICE have set up a partnership with wildlife experts to support the protection of marine mammals and seabirds.

Operation Seabird is an initiative bringing together North Yorkshire Police, Humberside Police, Scarborough Borough Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, alongside the RSPCA, RSPB and the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

The operation was developed following concerns that marine wildlife was increasingly being disturbed, resulting in unsuccessful breeding seasons.

“By keeping disruption to a minimum, we can help these animals thrive, and ensure future generations can enjoy their presence too,” said PC Adam Marshall, from North Yorkshire Police.
