HERE is this week’s selection of photographs sent in by readers, and they are fantastic.

As we say goodbye to summer, you’ve been out and about capturing on camera the change of season as it happens around us.

Both Jenny Stead and George Tremain have gone for farming

as the subject matter of their pictures.

Eagle-eyed Jenny caught this combine harvester and trailer in action in Allerston, perfectly framed by the hedge.

Meanwhile, George Tremain spotted these bales in the field on a walk between Pickering and Thornton-le-Dale with his granddaughters.

This gull caught the eye of Deana Briggs during a trip to Whitby. She thinks he is “waiting for his lunch”, and we think Deana is probably right.

Closer to home, Pete Lamb has photographed this colourful small tortoiseshell on rudbeckia in his garden.

And to finish today’s batch of photos, Nick Fletcher captured the sun setting over Malton. Absolutely stunning.
