HERE is this week’s selection of readers’ photographs, and what a great selection it is. You’ve been up hills and down dales, getting close-up to flowers and fauna, and capturing on camera some of the wilder creatures among us.

Ian Firth stayed out late to get this stunning sunset over Ellerburn Church, where as George Tremain was out and about during the day to take this fantastic picture of blue skies above golden fields during aw from Pickering to Thornton-le-Dale.

We’ve also got a brilliant landscape from Jenny Stead of the heather on the moors from Saltergate, and Nicky Smith spotted the Scarborough Spa Express heading across Strensall Crossing.

Sue Balmforth, Nick Fletcher, Pete Lamb and Catherine Stephens have all chosen birds and butterflies as their subjects.

Catherine didn’t have to go very far at all after this sparrow hawk hit her window. Five minutes later, it headed back to the skies above.

To submit your picture to the Gazette & Herald, email it, along with your name and where it was taken, to gazette@gazetteherald.co.uk.

Keep snapping!
