A CHARITY, which has held an annual pop-up shop for nearly 20 years, is hoping people will support its work virtually this year.

The Ryedale Action Medical Research Committee raises funds towards research into childhood diseases.

However, this year their fundraising has been curtailed due to coronavirus.

Susie Taylor, from the committee, which runs the shop at Middleton Village Hall, each August, said: “The committee has been going for more than 20 years and we have opened the shop every summer for almost as long.

“We also each year have some smaller fundraising events for supporters - a guided walk in nearby countryside, wine tastings, a radio play written by a local friend, talks from experts on subjects ranging from antiques to stained glass. Our fundraising total, before this year, is usually around £5,000 a year and, while there are no events happening for the time being, donations, either regular or one-off, can be made online at action.org.uk”
