A CHARITY has launched a new campaign to walk the 450-mile perimeter of Yorkshire during August.

Marie Curie is encouraging groups of walkers to come together for the campaign, called Walk Yorkshire.

Each walker will set their own target distance and clock up the miles individually, which will be added to a collective team total.

Teams can pick a walking route anywhere in Yorkshire, while raising funds for the charity which supports people with terminal illnesses.

“Where you walk, with who and how far is entirely up to you,” Liz Howlett, Yorkshire fundraising manager at Marie Curie.

“Whether you choose to walk 15 miles in the Yorkshire Dales, 10 miles in the Calder Valley, five miles on the coastal trail, three miles in your local park or a mile round your back garden – you choose.

“We’ll appreciate every mile you travel and every penny you raise, all of which will help our community nurses across Yorkshire support more families.”

Last year, Marie Curie cared for more than 3,400 people and families living in Yorkshire.
