RYEDALE dignitaries gathered in Malton at the weekend to celebrate Yorkshire Day.
Members of Malton and Norton town councils attended a short socially distance ceremony with the town crier David Jackson, who read the traditional Proclamation of Integrity.
Yorkshire Day is celebrated on August 1 to promote the historic English county of Yorkshire.
It was first celebrated in 1975, by the Yorkshire Ridings Society, initially in Beverley.
Coronavirus restricted celebrations, when there is usually a civic gathering of lord mayors, mayors, and other civic heads from across the county.
Cllr Emberley said: “It was a glorious day in Malton The town looked magnificent and the sunshine gave everyone a lift for Yorkshire Day.
“Councillors and visitors turned out to hear our Town Crier David Jackson who read the traditional Proclamation of Integrity.”
