A MEMBER of staff managed to put out a chip pan fire before firefighters arrived.
Fire crews from Whitby and Lythe were called to reports of a chip pan fire in a commercial property just before 1pm on Friday.
On arrival, crews found a fire to a small section of a chip pan that had been extinguished by a member of staff.
The fire was confined to the oil vats of the chip pan, resulting in light smoke damage.
