TWO abusive passengers reportedly punched a train staff member in the face and chest.
A female train guard was reportedly assaulted whilst attempting to remove two abusive men in their 20s from the train between Barrow and Askam.
A passenger came to assist and was reportedly knocked to the ground and punched by one of the passengers.
One of the suspects then allegedly punched the guard in the face and chest before both ran off.
British Transport Support Unit and Barrow Police found the abusive passengers who were hiding nearby.
The pair 'violently resisted arrest'. Both men have now been interviewed and bailed.
A spokesman for BTP said: "A female train guard was trying to remove two abusive males in their 20s from a service at #AskamInFurness.
"A male passenger who came to assist was knocked to the ground and punched.
"One of the suspects then punched the guard in the face and chest before both ran off. Our BTP Support Unit, who were nearby attended, as did Barrow Police, who located both males hiding nearby.
"They violently resisted arrest. Thanks are also due to members of the public who helped officers locate the suspects.
"Both males have been interviewed and bailed."
