PICKERING Town Council is hoping to reopen its play areas next month.

The play areas are currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

To comply with insurance requirements and government guidance, the play areas need new risk assessments and new signage. All the play areas also need safety checks before they can reopen.

A spokesperson for the council said: “We are hoping that the play areas can be re-opened in early August, but in the meantime they will remain closed.

“We hope that families can make use of the open space and football goals on the Community Park, and we also hope that the fantastic new play area on the Community Park will be ready to open soon.

“We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to our volunteer play area wardens who have done a great job of keeping an eye on the play areas during lockdown. This really has been appreciated.”
