A KIRKBYMOORSIDE company has received an order worth more than £890,000.

Marshall Advanced Composites has accepted the order from Honeywell, in Yeovil, for 21 sonobuoys launch carousel assembly units.

Each carousel holds 10 sonar-seeking sonobuoys, which are dropped from aircraft or ships to conduct anti-submarine warfare or underwater research.

“This is another fantastic win for us,” said Carl Morse, the firm’s general manager. “It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of the composites team here in Kirkbymoorside.”

Marshall has been supplying the assembly units to Honeywell for a number of years; delivering its 100th unit to the company in 2019.

The carousel assembly was originally designed for use on the Nimrod aircraft and is used to drop submarine seeking sonobuoys.

During that time, Marshall has also updated the sonobuoys unit design so they can be installed on the S-92 and Wildcat helicopters.

The company also manufactures and supplies the plenum chambers and ducts for Honeywell, which form part of the exhaust systems on Falcon 7X aircraft.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to continue working with Honeywell,” added Carl.

“As always, we appreciate the confidence place in us with this additional contract.”

The company will be delivering the sonobuoy launch carousel assembly units throughout 2021 and 2022.
