A COMPETITION to find the best churchyard is now open.
CPRE North Yorkshire (CPRENY) is inviting churches of all religions to enter the competition, by May 31, 2021.
The competition aims to recognise and reward churchyards, which are well-managed to provide a peaceful environment for people and wildlife.
“North Yorkshire has hundreds of churchyards and they are beautiful places,” said Stuart White, chair of CPRENY.
“That’s why we believe in celebrating them and celebrating the people that look after them – because they are often volunteers and they do an amazing job.”
Each entry will be visited by the judges and assessed on a range of criteria, with a £200 prize and a commemorative plaque.
