NORTH Yorkshire County Council is continuing to provide food parcels and prescription deliveries to shielding residents.
The government recently announced the national programme of deliveries to elderly and vulnerable residents will end on July 31.
An estimated 24,700 people in North Yorkshire are clinically vulnerable to being hospitalised as a result on coronavirus – about 12 per cent have needed support.
“We want to reassure people who have been shielding for the last three months that our support will continue,” said Gary Fielding, the county council’s director of strategic resources. “Over the next six weeks we will be contacting those people on the shielding list to help them prepare for the end of July and put alternative methods of support in place.”
