Developers hoping to create a new cocktail bar in High Wycombe's High Street want to be able to show plays and films and play live music.

An application for a premises licence for the planned new cocktail and tapas bar at the old Wheatsheaf Inn building at 2 and 3 High Street has revealed more about could be on offer.

The cocktail bar - which is as yet unnamed and has not been given the go-ahead yet - could show plays from 12pm to 10pm Monday to Wednesday or 12pm to 11pm Thursday to Saturday.

It also wants permission to be able to show films from 12pm to 10pm Monday to Thursday and 12pm to 5pm Friday to Sunday.

This is perhaps unsurprising, considering the plans suggest the community will able to use the upper floors of the building from Monday to Wednesday.

If Buckinghamshire Council allows the bar to have the licence, it could also play live music between 11am to 11pm Sunday to Wednesday and 11am, to midnight on Thursday. From Friday to Saturday, it would be allowed to play live music from 11am to 2.30am.

The bar is covering all bases and also asking for permission to show dance performances from 12pm to 10pm Sunday to Wednesday and 12pm to 11pm from Thursday to Saturday. It is also hoping to be able to play recorded music.

It would not be a cocktail bar without alcohol, so developers also want to be able to supply booze inside and outside between 12pm to 12am from Monday to Wednesday, 12pm to 1am on Thursdays and 11am to 2.30am on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday they could sell alcohol from 11am to midnight.

They are also asking to be able to provide late night refreshments on Friday and Saturday from 11pm to 1am.

The plans to overhaul the building - which is the second oldest in High Wycombe - were first revealed in April and residents have been largely in favour of turning it into a cocktail bar.

Planning documents reveal the Grade-II listed building will have a huge makeover before becoming a mixology/tapas bar serving "unique" cocktails and "British local produce tapas".

The first floor will have a "mixology/speakeasy" use from Thursday to Sunday, with opportunities for community use from Monday to Wednesday.

The second floor will be mainly for community use.

The plans have been backed by the High Wycombe Society, who said they were "delighted" that the people refurbishing the building are "experts in historic buildings", adding: "This is a great opportunity to pull aspirational spend into the historic High Street".

The former pub is the second oldest standing building in High Wycombe - second only to All Saints Parish Church.

Research into the history of the former pub has found that it was once likely part of a larger, high-status medieval building.
