Smouldering muck heap sparks fire alert
EMERGENCY crews were called to a field on fire at the weekend, but found a smouldering muck heap instead.
Firefighters from Malton, Pickering and Sherburn responded to reports of a fire in a field in Malton at 2.30pm on Saturday.
When they arrived, they found a large muck heap that was smouldering, creating large amounts of smoke due to the high winds.
