A TEENAGE horse rider has won two awards.

Britany Wheldon, who lives in Yedingham, joined Scarborough Riding Club with her horse Sunny Delight last year. They have since represented their club at various events and were recently crowned National Grass Roots Champion.

Britany, who is 19, and the youngest member of Scarborough Senior Riding Club, also won the club’s best newcomer award and most improved combination.

Her mum Angela and dad Andrew, who adopted Britany when she was a child, attended the award night where Britany received her trophies.

Angela said: “Britany has come so far from the scared eight year old we adopted and Sunny Delight and Britany have a true bond. He has shown Britany her true potential and we ever grateful to the Easterby family who retired Sunny from hunting to live out his years with the Wheldon family.”
