A NORTON care home has appointed a new resident ambassador.

Lena Walker, originally from Lancashire, moved to Rivermead Care Home, in Norton, in 2013 after deciding it was an ideal location for her family to visit.

The role allows Lena to be a voice for other people at Rivermead and help anyone settling in.

“To me, the role of resident ambassador is an important one,” said Lena.

“Not everyone is able to voice their thoughts and feelings to the team; I know what an overwhelming experience moving can be.”

The main responsibilities include helping residents and their families during visiting times and being a familiar face for those finding moving a challenging transition.

“Rivermead is a happy home with a big amount of support, I’m glad to be offering reassurance for people at the start of their journey and answer any questions they might have – from a resident’s perspective,” added Lena.

Rivermead care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care, from respite care to long term stays.
