A NAILSWORTH restaurant owner is providing meals on wheels during the coronavirus crisis.

Paddy Clatworthy who runs the Olive Tree has teamed up with taxi driver Pete Law and Lewis Saunders to provide a free delivery service to hungry customers who are self-isolating.

“It’s our entire menu that’s available for takeaway and a free delivery within two miles of the business,” said Paddy who has owned the popular eatery for 16 years.

Paddy admitted the current pandemic is a concern as footfall drops off, but he has vowed to carry on.

“This is the worst we’ve ever known. We’re 40% down on trade and that was before the Prime Minster urged people to avoid eating and drinking out.

“It will be an extremely challenging three months at what is normally a busy time of year for us.

“Our biggest aim is to protect our staff as much as possible. This will only be achievable through Government support. Closure is not an option, but a very realistic possibility without sourcing new revenue streams.”
