TWO people arrested in connection with a fatal crash have been released pending further enquiries.

A 19-year-old man from the Malton area died after the car he was travelling in left Sandside in Scarborough and crashed into the Casino Royale building.

The accident happened at about about 1.20am on Sunday. It is believed that the car travelled from the town centre along Foreshore Road prior to the collision.

Two other occupants of the car, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman suffered slight injuries and were arrested in connection with the collision. They have now been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and either saw the grey Seat travelling through Scarborough, witnessed the crash or has any dash-cam footage of the car or the collision, to contact them if they have not already done so.
