A PICKERING pub is embracing everything eco-friendly by installing electrical car chargers.

The Black Swan, in Pickering, has installed two BP Ultra Charging Points for anyone owning an electric car in Ryedale.

There are now two charging points in Pickering, including the White Swan Inn.

“Installed by BP, the Ultra Charging Point should only take 30 minutes for a full charge, so plenty of time to have a cup of coffee or a sandwich while you wait,” said Jill Hall, owner of The Black Swan, alongside her husband, Phil Hall.

“We have two dedicated parking places, as well as three different cables depending on the type of electric car and requirements.

“Anyone using the charging point can come into The Black Swan, grab a code for the barrier and wait until their car is fully charged.”

The Government plans to bring forward a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2040, to 2035, which has sparked a surge in online searches for electric cars by UK drivers.

Charging points varies between different companies, with the BP Chargemaster founded in 2008, after an increasing trend in environmental awareness.

“The Black Swan is proud to be supporting the next transport revolution,” said Phil.

“The Black Swan was first established in 1631, by a gentleman called Nicholas Conyers. Little did he know, his home would soon become the hub for several transport revolutions over the millenniums.

“For the past two years work has been under way to provide a rapid vehicle charging point at the pub - now it’s finally a reality.

“Motorists travelling through Ryedale have the opportunity to charge their vehicles in less than 30 minutes with no parking charge.”

Prices are 15p per kiloWatt-hour. Motorists can either pay through a Polar Card, if anyone has a BP account, or contactless card payment.
