A GROUP of students have hovered their way to success.
The Year 6 girls, from Terrington Hall School, were crowned the winners at the SES Hovercraft Day, hosted by York’s The Mount School.
Attended by eight other schools, the brief was to design and build a hovercraft which could withstand the weight of one person.
“The task required a high degree of collaboration; I was extremely proud of the way in which they worked together applying their maths, science and design skills to the challenge in hand,” said Simon Pickering, head of science at Terrington Hall School.
“Several of them have come away from the day desiring a career in engineering.”
