FOOTBALLERS at one village primary school are celebrating.
Year 6 pupils at Langton Primary School came third out of 500 North Yorkshire schools in the ESFA Danone Nations Cup, a girls’ seven-a-side school teams’ competition.
Initially winning the Malton round, the team won the Ryedale Finals played at Eskdale School in Whitby.
Earning a place in the County Finals, the team won their group securing a place in the semi-finals again Thorpe Willoughby.
Although the team were beaten 2-1, the team placed third overall.
Samantha Conroy, the office manager at Langton Primary School, said: “This is a great achievement for a school of our size, especially as we were playing against teams from schools such as Gladstone Road, with over 750 pupils.”
