VISITORS, staff and councillors came together to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

Pickering Library aired a webcast by concentration camp survivor Susan Pollack MBE, alongside a display of educational materials to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

The event remembers those who suffered under Nazi persecution in the Second World War, and in subsequent genocides. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and the 25th anniversary of the Bosnian genocide.

“It was a privilege to hear Susan’s story and to voice plans for my intergenerational project, which encourages people to share their memories from the war with the younger generation,” said Cllr Jim Clark, chairman of North Yorkshire County Council.
