THE name of a new micropub has been revealed.

Craft Bar will open in what is currently a charity shop at 7 Northway, opposite the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough.

Katrice Rowe was granted planning permission last year by Scarborough Council after its planning officers concluded that it would have no “significant adverse impact” on people living nearby.

Miss Rowe has now applied for a premises licence which would allow her to sell alcohol.

In her application, Miss Rowe states the bar would be open from 11am to midnight, seven-days-a-week, with alcohol sold until 11.30pm. She is also seeking permission to have both live and recorded music in the venue.

The plan is now out to consultation; no opening date for the pub has been revealed at this stage.

During the planning process, Miss Rowe explained why the town needed a new micropub.

Her application added: “Small premises can be successful, by specialising in offering products from smaller, craft-based suppliers and appealing on the basis of taste and interest, rather than price. Socially, creating a following of regulars will to some extent restore their local identity.

The closing date for representations is February 25.
