A PHOTOGRAPHER is marking a year in the life of a forest with an exhibition - 100 Years of Forestry - at Staindale Lake, until March.
Tony Bartholomew, a Scarborough-based editorial photographer, has spent more than a year photographing activities within Dalby Forest, including bird ringing, harvesting, portraits of forest workers and scenic views.
“For one year, I recorded the flora and fauna of the forests and the people who shaped their past and now protect their future,” said Tony.
The Forestry Commission - now known as Forestry England - was founded in 1919 to replenish the nation’s supply of timber after the First World War.
Petra Young, funding and development manager at Forestry England said: “Tony’s work shows the range of special aspects the forest has to offer, and we are excited to show this to our visitors in this unusual location using Tony’s lens to see.”
