A DEFIBRILLATOR is now in place by the front door of the tourist information centre (TIC) in Coniston.
This is thanks around £600 in funding from voluntary organisation Coniston First Responders (CFR), which provides medical assistance to casualties while an ambulance is en route.
The device, which can be used to help people suffering cardiac arrest, was moved from The Coniston Inn, located on the shores of Coniston Water. The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment, and the defibrillator has been moved so it can be accessed in an emergency. The £600-donation has been used to pay for its external housing in its new location.
Helen Lace, secretary of the first responders, said the group planned to fundraise to replace the defibrillator at The Coniston Inn once the inn, formerly The Waterhead Hotel, reopened.
