RYEDALE has the chance to make its mark in the record books.

Ryedale Swim And Fitness Centre, in Pickering, is attempting to break the world record for the number of people to travel down a water slide in four hours, on Saturday, from 1.30pm to 5.30pm.

The current world record stands at 620 individuals to go down a water slide, which was set in 2014.

Jon Bird, the contract manager at Everyone Active, which runs the centre, said: “We really hope that with the support of the swimmers, clubs, teams and local community of Ryedale, we can slide into the record books.”

Everyone taking part will be granted free access to the rest of the leisure centre for the day.

To take part, people need to arrive at the centre in plenty of time to sign in and break a world record.
