POLICE do not believe that there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was pulled out of a river at the weekend.
The man's body was recovered from the River Leven in Great Ayton on Saturday morning after a passerby alerted the emergency services.
A spokesman from North Yorkshire police said: "Police were called at 8.45am on Saturday by a member of the public who found the body of a man in a stream at Great Ayton.
"Officers attended the scene with colleagues from the ambulance service and the fire and rescue service.
"The man's family have been informed and his death isn't being treated as suspicious."
Fire Station Manager Bob Hoskins tweeted that crews from Stokesley and Whitby recovered the body.
He also issued a warning about the dangers of water at this time of year, saying: "Take care near water at this time of year.
"Temperatures are very low and even shallow water can be dangerous."
